A little set back..

Dang expenses! If you have ever herd how expensive it is to adopt you might have a mini heart attack. (I am going through a big one) We had our phone call with our social worker with american adoptions and she informed us that there is a fee that we thought was included in all the other fees. It is not like a little measly membership fee or registration fee this is huge! 10,000 dollars huge! (that doesn't include the other fees this one just sets us back) Unfortunately, we don't have the seeds to grow a money tree in the back and the weather isn't to nice to plant anything right now anyway. So we will be having to wait longer to proceed with the adoption. It is  frustrating and heart wrenching that we felt like we were getting closer and have to take so many steps back.   Don't get me wrong I still know this is the path we are going to take and that we will have a family but the questions just role around in my head day after day. Why? What if? How?  It has been a struggle and I feel the light is just getting farther and farther.

So for now we will be holding off and saving saving. We didn't go through the home study because it is only good for a year and it doesn't make sense to have it done right now. We have done a lot of things to get ready and we are still going to do as much as we can for now. We are not giving up and we will do whatever we can to start our family. I found this awesome saying (i am sure on pinterest ;))

We don't all become mothers in the same way, but we all have a road to travel, with an amazing gift waiting at the end of the journey. It is up to us to make the most of our "moments", whatever they may be.
I am trying to make the best out of the moments and remember that day will come were we will be parents. Also enjoy the upcoming year with Cory and whatever we may do.

  1. Have you looked into Lds family services? I know they are way cheaper and its based on your income- my brother in law and sister in law went through them and had a very positive experience :) best of luck!!

  3. So sorry, Kylee! :( That is a lot of money!!! I would also say look into LDS family services if you haven't already. Julie (Jarrett) Hansen used to be a case worker there and could give you some great adoption info if you'd like.

  4. I am sorry that you feel that you have been set back. However, I am a true believer in timing, as you know, there must be a greater reason. A reason that is unable to be processed and entirely understood until everything has fallen into place. Be strong and know that you father in heaven is always aware of your needs, your heart and always available to provide comfort and peace of mind.
